I OWN THIS.
This is pretty huge, non-comic-book readers (and also X-Force-novices).
This one hardcover (that is so sleek, gorgeous, well-executed) collects for the FIRST TIME the exact run of issues that I go back to, over and over again. In one place! I can finally recommend this stretch of issues to people and point them to a convenient collection instead of random dollar bins of back issues.
Also, did I mention this is beautiful?
This collects X-Force #19-25 (as well as a relevant issue of New Warriors), which is the real meat of Fabian Nicieza and Greg Capullo’s game-changing run on X-Force. Game-changing because this is where Liefeld’s shallow zeitgeist puppets gained real weight and depth. These issues cemented these characters as lifelong faves of mine, and it’s the stretch where I became a fan of the series. I have reread these single issues probably more than most any other comics I own.
They’re just phenomenally fun superhero comics that I have written about at length elsewhere.
